We have a cat eye baby with xtra chr22, neither my husband or myself have the x-tra chr. Our geneticist explained that it happens at conception and may be a one time thing, something like 1 in 250 tho( my #'s may be off) but it seemed pretty rare. Our first little girl is fine and has no chromosonal problems but our second had multiple congenital defects caused by cat eye syndrome. Best of luck. Maybe you should request some genetic testing as well as some studies.

: Hello--I had a miscarriage 11 years

: and the fetus tested positive for
: trisomy 22. My OB said it was a
: fluke, unlikely to happen again. We
: now have two healthy boys. Good luck!

: I am looking for information on
: Complete
: Trisomy 22. I have recently miscarried
: for the second time in six months. I
: was told that the miscarriage was due
: to complete Trisomy 22. There was an
: additional 22 chromosome seen in each
: metaphase. I have two healthy
: children, are they carriers of this
: gene as well? For this rare
: abnormality to occur, do both my
: husband and I have to be carriers? Any
: answers would be great! Could this
: have occured during fertilization or
: cell division? Looking for answers!
: Thanks, Beth
