I know for sure Ms. Lisa Murkouski and (at the time he was a Senator Obamas running for President's seat.) Mr. President Obamas have signed a Bill. Saying something about no more releases of mercury into our mainstream.
I will not name my sources. I have made a promise to protect their names.
The real reason why I am asking for this is, the old Nyac mine needs to be cleaned up. Even after 2o long years later, it still is leaking mercury into the mighty Kkuskokwim River. How I know about this, I've got friends who have been there, who flew across the Nyac and have seen the tailing ponds. My friends have expressed it to me strongly. Some went to panhandling down at Quinhagak beaches and have seen dirty rushly red waters and silvery marbles (mercury) among the pebbles in the river banks. Talk about reclamation act. I've been talking with my Calista Corporation's Secretary Felix Hess. He knows about the leakage and yet, he laughed at me when I told him that the EPA will not clean the mess up! He stated, no one will ever clean it up! Than asked me not to bother about it! Why is that? I may live 253 sea nautical miles from it and yet, I have 4.83 mercury level in my system.
I WANT THE NYAC AREA CLEANED UP FIRST BEFORE, THE DONLIN CREEK MOVES IN! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR!
I know Natives aren't the only one who wants to have clean environment. All native and nonnative share the same thoughts. The funny thing about this one is. The non-natives have tried to help the natives but they end up being pushed aside, just because they are non-natives and they are not from Alaska yet they still live in Alaska. Who pushes the non-natives away? The Government (especially the militaries who has high ranks and who can benefit from our land) and our most delightful Board of Directors. Guess if you are wondering how I know these, I've got FRIENDS who cares alot.
