I am woman who is 52 years old....
My Father will be 78 years old this coming Sunday..
All of our lives, we have been sitting, waiting and listening to the promissory Agencies (may it be State of Alaska Representatives or Federal Government Agencies)promising us that they will help us out with the honey bucket and better water quality. Yes, of course, it is easier said than done. I know all of the Alaskan Rural Villages has the same needs and wants as this village wants and needs but...
For years and years... The President's Aides of all agencies (using all the branches just under the HEAD MASTER)(let's see who also has this branch, The Governor of All 50 States, The U.S. Senators of All 50 States, the Congresses, Legislators of all 50 States or who ever says they are here to help us!)Had come and long gone by now, replaced or retired by now. What good is it for you to come to our village again and again, only to tell us it costs too much... or the PHS building (the Watering hold)is too old, out dated equipments, why do you keep wasting monies on traveling going into and out of our villages? How much an hour do you earn or what is your annually earned income, lodging and bedding, daily allowance, of course you do have the right to have these things because it was written by LAW. And I am sure, if the allowance was off by little, you will fight and cry as loud you can! Yes, of course, I should went to college and make something of myself. I have seen and heard people go to college...but did they bring us the good news from The Agenies....No, not yet!!
Will you pleaseeeeeeeee stop saying that You will help us out! Why not just go out there and do it! For the Health and safety of our people...now I am waiting for my Father to die before he can sit comfortably on the flush toilet...where is it...when will it come...before I die...God, I hope not....The Alaska itself became State of Alaska since the year of 1949 and now the year is 2008.... Where is your promise to us? WE ARE STILL USING OUR HONEY BUCKETS AND WHEN WILL OUR VILLAGES GET DRINKING WATERS? WE DO NOT CARE FOR FLUSH AND HAUL SYSTEM CAUSE IT ONLY CREATES MORE MESS AND THE SMELL OF IT! THE LAGOON ARE NOT WORKING, TOO, IT ALSO CREATES DUST WHICH IT WILL GET INTO OUR SUBSISTENCE FOOD THAT ARE HANGING OUT TO DRY, AS WELL AS INTO OUR WATERING POINTS. When, oh,when will I get better services?? when?
Psst: Before I forget or sign off...Just a reminder for all Alaskan Rural Villages, just watch these agencies who comes to your village, ask them to sit in your honey buckets or to drink from your watering hold.... The question is, will they sit on it or drink from it? I know they are trying to help us but it is not enough...
We are tired of listening and listening, now we want results.. Pleassssssssssseeeee next time, you come to my village, pleassssssssseee come and sit on my honey bucket and feel for yourself and pleassssssssssseeee get a whiff of the honey bucket...maybe than we(Alaskan Natives) won't mind you so much coming here and this way, we will know you have spend your money's worth! On behalf of the Natives, I do appology for saying it but it is for the right reason. I am the one who is saying out of frustration for my people. Do not end up hating all of the Natives because I am only one who is saying this...Oh, by the way, I now have two grand children, one is a year old and other one is almost a year old. Mmmmmmmmmm I wonder if they, too will get to sit on the honey bucket, too. And drink my shitty waters, too. Public Healthy Service....Just a fancy words to me and it means nothing at all, now a day in the year of 2008!
