The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics tested 30 lipsticks and found that 20 contained lead.
Some of the questionable lipsticks were made by L'Oreal, Dior and Covergirl.
Pregnant women are advised to consult with their doctors before using cosmetics as lead can cause developmental harm to the fetus.

Lead in lipstick is just a scratch at the surface...
Did you know that Under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act, cosmetics and their ingredients are not required to undergo approval before they are sold to the public?

Basically product safety is contingent on an industry-funded panel (Cosmetic Ingredient Review), who reviews the safety of cosmetic ingredients in the U.S.

Get yourself wise to what's in those products!
