in addition to other minute chemicals in the gun powder, used shells are full of lead. One use that we have found is to reload the shells. As part of an emergency operations plan since 9-11 several of us hunters have gotten into reloading. it would also be a good project for youth. as bullets, shells, and freight increases, it is a lot cheaper to reload. maybe form a co-op with other villages in the region, and send your spent shells to a local reloader. I did see once somewwhere that there was an outfit that would actually buy them. But i lost the contact after we established locals who reload.
