Furans - A colorless, volatile, liquid heterocyclic conpound, C4H4O, derived from dehydration of certain carbin hydrates and used in synthesizing organic compounds, esp. nylon. Styrene - A colorless, oily liquid, C8H8, the monomer for polystyrene. This is how the contaminants in styrene pass around. Polystyrene readily de-polymerizes at "campfire temperatures" giving off styrene vapor, which may or may not burn. Styrene Vapor is toxic. Burning polystyrene has a characteristic odor which is largely styrene vapor.
