Not in Daria :-(" I don't know, I think there might be a way to reach some middle ground with a mix of b) and c). You know, a story where Daria would talk about all the things that suck about Christmas: the pretenses of civility with family you can barely tolerate for one night a year, the constant consumerism hammered into people by the media, the religious crowd insisting that it's all about Christianity and nothing else, how all the problems in the world are magically resolved on Christmas Eve, etc, only to have her spend Christmas Eve with Jane and Trent, and realizing that maybe, if anything, Christmas makes a good excuse to spend some quality time with the people you *do* like. Something like that would work best with Season 4-5 Daria though.

: Of course I am disappointed with Glenn &
: Co for their decision not to make any
: Holiday episodes at all. No
: eastern,thx-giving,x-mas etc.
:
: Myself, I think it was a wonderful idea.
: The fact is, Daria would probably take a
: very cynical view of the socially-enforced
: jollity that surrounds most holidays.
:
: Which means that a Daria Xmas themed episode
: could only end in one of three ways:
: a) Daria learns the True Meaning of
: Christmas. No one watching the show would
: buy this. "Yes, I'm cynical about
: everything...but not Xmas! I learned that
: there's a special meaning to this holiday!
: Merry Xmas to all!!"
:
: b) A "middle ground" episode set
: around Christmas which isn't as over the top
: as a), but yes, Doggone It, Daria realizes
: that there's something very special about
: this time of year.
:
: c) A full blown episode mocking Christmas,
: mocking its pretentiousness, the social
: pressures, seeing family that you really
: don't give a damn about, obligatory present
: giving, rampant commercialism, religious
: preachiness, et. al.
