Posted by CINCGREEN --Previous Message-- Myself, I think it was a wonderful idea. The fact is, Daria would probably take a very cynical view of the socially-enforced jollity that surrounds most holidays. Which means that a Daria Xmas themed episode could only end in one of three ways: a) Daria learns the True Meaning of Christmas. No one watching the show would buy this. "Yes, I'm cynical about everything...but not Xmas! I learned that there's a special meaning to this holiday! Merry Xmas to all!!" Let me know when this one comes on so I can skip it. b) A "middle ground" episode set around Christmas which isn't as over the top as a), but yes, Doggone It, Daria realizes that there's something very special about this time of year. Actually, I'd rather watch a) than b). I'd rather take the spigot at full force than the Chinese Water Torture of b). c) A full blown episode mocking Christmas, mocking its pretentiousness, the social pressures, seeing family that you really don't give a damn about, obligatory present giving, rampant commercialism, religious preachiness, et. al. You would never be able to get c) on the air, and the Daria community would be enraged, because secretly, I bet they all "wuv" Christmas! In short, a good decision by Eichler. If I want a Christmas cartoon, I'll watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas". --CINCGREEN, 9 December 2004

: Holiday episodes at all. No

Which means, of course, that someone has to write this as fanfic someday.
