I just logged on to post the video link, but....
1- MM = pea hens/sentries/clucker guards
2- coop lumber ahdn't occurred but will keep in mind. The counter slabs are sold natural edge -- part of their appeal -- but bottoms and the first slabs off the top could yield some quarter sawn boards that would work for clucker condos. The slabs are easy to do with long bar chainsaw mill; ya don't have to move the logs, and pieces with an arc to 'em are easily accommodated. Am considering a low end mill to do up some rock maple, oak that was in log length firewood purchase and looked too darn good to burn up; maybe be able to recoup mill cost and finance some needed refurbs on the patch.
3-Hadn't thought of the bedding thing, not yet having birds to bed, but will def keep that in mind as well. Acid soil here likes blueberries, so that's on the ticket too. DR mmakes a decent chipper/ shredder; been looking on Craigslist...
Starting on my second threescore and ten, so I must be running on nuclear fuel from all the radionuclides blowing around in the atmos.
And a good cigar daily also helps -- at least with sanity maintenance.
Keep on cluckin'........
