the doozy kind of CME like we had in 1859 is supposed to happen about once every five hundred years according to traces left in ice core records, maybe we don't have to worry for awhile but then again maybe we win the lottery in nearer future. Worth noting the Sun has been acting very weirdly the past two years, as in way quieter than normal.
You'd think the first and second world countries at least would spend the relatively little amount of money it would take to harden the power grids against CMEs and EMP blasts and geomagnetic disturbances and such. cheap insurance.
