Seems like any older vehicle that didn't have any computer controlled nuthin would still work. Maybe not the alternator though, not sure, but an old brushed generator and normal carb, etc. There's just not anything there that is delicate enough to malfunction, and the engine compartment is already pretty *noisy* with very high voltage. Would the coils last? Im not an EE, I just don't know.
with that said...
Old VW beetles and vans FTW! (and my little diesel truck and all our older tractors)
I still maintain a solid aluminum suitcase/case thing that has spare radios and some other do dads in there. Closest thing to a fast faraday cage. That and maybe a galvanized steel garbage can, then seal it further with metal tape around the lid.
Horses and mules and oxen and bicycles would still be running as well.
Shoes, boots and socks would run out swiftly though, just not enough residual knowledge and skills and tools to recreate what would be the most important part of modern post EMP transportation. I guess cut up old tires and make viet cong sandals would be the easiest. I mean how many people in the industrialized nations even have the most rudimentary idea on how to tan leather anymore, using just natural materials? *I* can, and have done so, both hair on for furs and off for leather, plus natural waterproofing, but most folks, no idea.
