Just bought some lead sinkers for fishing (really)
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601080&sid=ae0wxm4LbEBc
"Lead, the best performer on the London Metal Exchange this year, surged to the highest price in almost 16 months as China vowed to shut substandard smelters after thousands of children were poisoned. "
I looked at the supposedly environmental friendly alternatives (what is in them? Who knows) but as they do bio-degrade and I don't go fishing much, they would probably be useless by time I got around to using them.
The point:
For those of you who may want lead for fishing weights or other purposes - do you
a) have sufficient supplies
b) know where you could get access to lead if you needed it - identified the sites where a trip would be worthwhile
c) identified an alternative if it is possible.
For fishing, a rock or piece of scrap steel will do.
