several things are usually sold in the U.S. as "cinnamon", and none of them are the real c. zeylanicum from Sri Lanka though they all have been used for various medicines. What's in our grocery stores are usually Cinnamomum burmannii and Cassia (both of which are called Indonesian cinnamon). These less expensive plants have less essential oils.
