East Texas is humid. I dry ground beef round in Harvest Maid food dehydrator, batter it to small chunks and grind it to powder in Corona
corn mill. For a quick meal at home or afield I make a meat shake --
-one cup meat powder (weighs 4 oz = 10 oz fresh meat. Has 55 protein grams)
-one teaspoon ground cayenne
-half teaspoon yellow curry
-two oz sunflower or safflower oil
-add 16 oz water and shake well.
A meat shake is particularly convenient for those with poor or no teeth. Think worst case scenario.
(PS I store dried meat powder in Planter's Peanuts jars. The oldest was ground Feb 2007. 's'ok so far.)
