Dottie,
I am 76 and no longer leap tall buildings at a single bound though I remember it well. On my Schwinn and Trek bikes I use lower gears and keep trudging up and over most hills. There is one hill where I get off and push the bike for ten or twelve minutes to get over the top.
When I have coffee at the StopNRob and the senior
stoic philosophers , all younger than I, come in they talk over each other whining their near-death-experience surgeries, and telling improbable romantic encounters. I leave then, and get on my bike.
If your bike has coaster rear brake take care that you also have a front brake in case the chain breaks.
