An interesting article (letter to the editor in the New England Journal of Medicine) showing the correlation between the spread of the current "swine flu" with published airline schedules and routes.

This is one of those deals I sort of worry about, the possibility of a humankind hating nutjob (humans are killing the planet! and etc, maybe someone in the human extinction movement or whatever, along those lines) having access to some advanced biotech and coming up with something that is *really nasty* and spreading it via airports. Say it was pretty lethal, no known vaccine or cure (it was just invented) and say with a one month incubation period before symptoms showed up. Not so much concerned over a nation to nation attack, I don't think they are that stupid (kim ill dung maybe...), but some random wildcard event. This tech for mixing and matching genes, etc is getting pretty easy now, relatively speaking.
