Oh, god, protectionist? First, if you're talking about intermarket trade (different countries are hardly similar markets) then there's a higher bar for what protectionism is. Second, where now is all the talk I heard of "Markets didn't work, we need regulation!"
The truth, of course, is that some minimal regulations are necessary, because a perfect market system will never be acheived. But neither the Republicans nor the Democrats are going to put into place any logical regulation, that addresses long term problems.
Boehner was grandstanding. But don't worry, the Republicans will compromise on this, just like they did with TARP, probably for a few tax breaks.
