In case of flu or other gastric maladie which results in the trots to the bathroom on a frequent basis, you will need to rehydrate, You'll be losing strength from losing electrolytes and so on. There are various ways to do this, from simple and cheap to more complex. The easiest way to do this in an emergency situation with cheap products you probably already have is to remember 1-8-1. This is the ratio you need for the recipe, which is easy, it is 1 level teaspoon salt, to 8 level teaspoons sugar, to 1 quart or liter (close enough) of pure and clean water. Simple enough to remember, drink a nice cup, maybe a pint, use common sense of how much you might need there for body size and estimated loss of fluid, after every experience in the john and some in between.
Another way to get a solution is to get prepackaged dry gatorade, follow instructions on the can or package. The dry is nice because it stores well, or you can get the premixed normal stuff just about anywhere. Pure water by itself is not enough when you have diarrhea.
You can also look in the grocery store and get a premade product called pedialyte, intended for kids, and just follow the instructions.
Here's a nice webpage with more on this subject and some more recipes
