Zog...all I have to say is oh boy...another funnel type turbine! The concept sure sounds nice but in reality it does not perform well at all. After several million $$$, even the Aussies couldn't get their Vortec Diffuser running worth a damn. As with many new whoopdedoo cool "breakthrough" developments, the manufacturer does not (or will not) provide a power curve or energy production data.
They'll tell you that it's currently in testing in outer Mongolia or on a remote island and you can't get there to see it in operation. Meanwhile, all we see is a slick presentation with an artists rendition only.
I often wonder if it's in the dna of the human race to believe that the weirder the product design and the more outlandish the manufacturer's claims, the better it must be! Sign me up for the new left handed reticulated spivet...the glow in the dark version please....
And class....please don't forget that the amount of wind energy near ground level or on rooftops is trivial at best...this holds true for all types of wind turbine designs, not just the new stuff.
FYI...most of these designs are far from new. Folks have been "inventing" most of these designs since 1926!
Someday someone will probably come up with an exception to this rule, but for now, none of these "new" designs perform poorly or not at all.
We want kilowatt hours for our $$$, not expensive kinetic lawn art.
