Posted by SPW on 4/10/2006, 9:26 am Historic Colonial Theatre First Match: Wild Zero Ryan Drago defeated Jesus "the Brownsnake" Kruze via submission This was an interesting clash of styles as Drago brings the Japanese Strong Style to the ring and Jesus is a good, oldfashioned brawler. Drago spent most of the match working over Jesus' arm, which paid off in the end as Drago got the win with cross armbreaker submission. Second Match: BUTT TITLE MATCH.... D-Unit defeated Steel and thus Steel retained the title This was a battle of the big men, but thanks to Steel constantly getting distracted by the BUTT Title Belt D-Unit was able to score the win. SPW Heavyweight Champion Old School Oliver John made his way to ringside for an interview. He talked not only about his big match with the Trendsetter Adam Thornstowe, scheduled for night one of the Anniversary Weekend, but also his title defense against the 7 foot tall Paul Isadora, scheduled later in the show. Oliver has confidence that he would be able to make it through both men. Third Match: Money Mike Rayne (w/ Reverend Otis Platinum) defeated Mr Frost Early in the match Rayne hit a series of clotheslines followed by a drop kick and Frost tried to escape from the ring, but ran into Otis. A bit later Rayne and Frost brawled out of the ring where Frost back body dropped Rayne onto the stage, followed him up, and hit him with a Verticle Suplex, also on the stage. Back in the ring Frost dominated for a bit, until Rayne turned things around. Rayne got the win with his Springboard Moonsault (the Moneysault). Fourth Match: DJ Rizz won a three way over Virgil Flynn and Kenny K This was a really fast paced, high flying match. Rizz sat out at the start and watched the two rookies exchange holds. Rizz and Virgil took turns working over Kenny, until he finally rolled out of the ring, leaving the two to fight each other. A bit later Virgil hit a nice cannonball onto both men. Rizz pinned Virgil for the win. Rik Luxury made his way to ringside for an interview and earned the title of best dressed wrestler in Nor Cal. The next match (between The British Messiah Timothy Thatcher and Seito Hayashi) never took place. During the ring introductions Thatcher warned Anthony the ring announcer to not mess up his last name again. Anthony did so Timothy grabbed him, only to have Anthony drop him and lock on a rear naked choke (turns out that Anthony is an instructor at Kovar's Martial Arts in Sacramento). Sir Samurai and Frost charged out and grabbed Anthony, but before the Honor Society could do anything Big Ugly JD Bishop ran out, joined by Hayashi and Kassy Summers. Ugly challenged the entire Honor Society to an 8 person tag for night one of the Anniversary show (Samurai, Frost, Thatcher, and Stokaroshi vs Ugly, Hayashi, Kassy, and Anthony). Fifth Match: The Rejected (Shane Dynasty, Trent Hemridge, and Luster the Legend) defeated Bonzai Bruce Bukkake, El Hijo De Chupacabra, and Rik Luxury The story here was that Commissioner Randy forced the top three Extreme Division wrestlers in Nor Cal to team up in their final SPW match before their No Rope 3 Way Dance Lumberjack Match at night one of the Anniversary Show weekend. Things did not work out... well for the three of them as they never seemed to be on the same page, right from the start. At the bell the Rejected atacked the other three, but they cleared the ring.... and then argued with each other. Hijo spent a lot of time in the ring, getting beat on by all three members of the Rejected. Rik seemed really hesitant to take a tag. Bruce and Hijo finally took over on Luster but argued over whether to hit him with a double clothesline or a back elbow, allowing Luster to take over. Rik? He continued to watch. Rik finally came in... and clotheslined both Bruce and Hijo. Luster and Shane hit Bruce with a Doomsday Device for the win. After the match Hijo, Bruce, and Rik fought a bit. Sixth Match: The Cartel defeated Sir Samurai and the Trendsetter Adam Thornstowe Before the match started Samurai tried to get the crowd to stand up and pay respect to the next SPW Heavyweight Champion Adam Thornstowe. The crowd did not. Adam and Ugly started things off, going hold for hold. Ugly brought Vinny in and he also went hold for hold with Adam. Adam raked the eyes and brought in Samurai.... who got hip tossed by a blind Vinny. The Cartel took turns beating on Samurai for awhile and the match spilled from the ring and the beating continued, only now Adam was getting beat on by Ugly and at least one fan. Back in the ring the Cartel continued to beat on Samurai. Samurai finally blocked a hip toss by Vinny, turned it into a neck breaker and Adam came off the top rope for a double foot stomp. Adam and Samurai took turns working over Vinny for awhile, but he cut Adam off and tagged in Ugly at the same time Adam tagged Samurai and the Cartel quickly hit Samurai with the AMF for the win. Main Event: Old School Oliver John defeated Paul Isadora via a count out to retain the SPW Heavyweight Title Yet again Oliver showed why he is the top wrestler in Nor Cal, really bringing the fight to the tallest wrestler in Nor Cal. Paul all but dominated the champion in the ring, but the two men spent more time fighting at ringside then wrestling in the ring. Paul hit Oliver not only with a Chokeslam on the floor but also a Razor's Edge. Just amazing the abuse Oliver took. The finish saw Oliver hit Paul with a Deathvalley Driver on the floor and roll back into the ring for the count out victory. Next up for Oliver is Adam Thornstowe at the Annversary show.
