We can get so busy in our daily lives that we forget how the simple act of serving someone a home cooked meal, sending a thank you card (not an ecard), or a kind word given at the right moment can mean the world to someone in need.
An example from an Amish family in Illinois: "9 year old Samuel was in a terrible accident when a farming machine mangled all four limbs from his body. He went through 28 operations and managed to have 3 of his limbs saved. His family was thankful for his survival but were over their heads in debt from the medical bills. The Amish community usually helps itself but this was too much for this small community to handle on its own. The surrounding christian community heard of their difficulties and with the family's help came to a solution. The family opened their home to weekend visitors for dinner. People would come for dinner and leave a donation. After about 5 years over half of the medical bill was paid. But that wasn't the end of the situation. The visitors were touched by the families faith and love and the family was touched by the love shown to them by strangers. God was truly at work in this situation.
There are so many of our brothers and sisters in Christ that are walking through the fire right now who really need someone to encourage them. You never know how your act of kindness will affect someone's life.
Remember, as you walk through the upcoming week, that you have a chance to make a profound difference in someone's life by just a simple act of kindness.
God bless
