Oh so many years ago, we as a people were able to set aside our differences and sit down at a table on this day as One Nation under God, give thanks for The Lord’s Provisions and eat as a United People.
President James Madison reminded his audience during his Thanksgiving Day proclamation in 1815 that:
No people ought to feel greater obligations to celebrate the goodness of the Great Disposer of Events of the destiny of Nations than the people of the United States…. And to the same Divine Author of Every Good and Perfect Gift we are indebted for all those privileges and advantages, religious as well as civil, which are so richly enjoyed in this favored land.
My dear brother and sisters,
On this day of Thanks giving, remember the purpose and origin of this day…..A day of gathering of loved ones, friends, neighbors and wayfarers. It is in the Spirit of America that this day was born in celebration of gifts, blessings and abundant bounty provided by our creator and those He placed among us as family, friends and neighbors.
I ask you, my friends, please look into your hearts and take in one person less fortunate that you, one that may be going through difficult times, may be homeless, without family or in travel… Thank a Public Servant, A firefighter, and an officer of the Law, A Doctor, and Nurse, an EMT, a Veteran and those presently serving in our Military services…
Presently we are still the greatest country in the world, the times are changing. We are weathering a tumultuous storm that is ravaging our land, its people, economy, our very foundation is being tried and tested…There are cracks developing in our foundation that are threatening our very survival as a people and Nation… We as a people, this day must reflect upon our blessings, gifts and bounties…..Give thanks to our provider and those who have helped us in the reaping of the harvest. Share the blessings and love with others as commanded by our Father. Unite as a people and return to the principles in which we were founded….as a Nation under God. Pray for our Nations leadership and our enemies, pray for all His children and love them as He loves us…
Almighty God,
You are the provider of all things to all people. Without You and your Love, We have nothing and are nothing…You Lord are the creator of our existence and life itself. We sowed the seed in which you provided to us as a gift and we reaped the harvest that you provide as a blessing. Father we give thanks as a free people and nation, we ask that you forgive our transgressions as we forgive those that have transgressed against us. Father we also ask that you strengthen us with the attributes of our countries founders, that you guides us back to where we started in our national devotion and faith. Lord Bless this Nation and its leaders with the Wisdom of Solomon, the Devotion and Loyalty of Job, The Strength of Samson and the Courage of David. Strengthen our back as a nation and soften our hearts in love for our people. In His Name I pray …Amen
Give Thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make know among the nations what He has done…Psalm 105:1
Faithfully, In His service
Dan
