"But God will use this persecution to show his justice. For he will make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering" (2 Thes 1:5)
"And then, dear brothers and sisters, you suffered persecution from your own countrymen. In this way, you imitated the believers in God's churches in Judea who, because of their belief in Christ Jesus, suffered from their own people, the Jews." (1 Thes 2:14)
I cannot say enough, those who truly believe in our Lord, and truly work to live a Christ-centered life will suffer...we will be persecuted, at times by those nearest and dearest to us. If we choose to truly walk the narrow path illustrated for us by Christ Jesus, we will be persecuted just as He was (although not to that extent). Sadly, today society is more concerned with being politically correct, rather than Biblically correct. There has been so much violence, death, and persecution, one would think people would deviate from such focus and would turn to God, for He (and He alone) can offer solace during such pain and loss; however, instead people turn to empathy. I cannot truly fathom how one could have empathy for someone who seeks to destroy an entire nation; but who am I to understand it? My point is, do not be discouraged by the persecution. It is difficult, it is disheartening, it can even feel isolating. But know this, persecution comes to those who are truly focused on our Lord. Persecution comes to those who are making a difference. If you weren't on the right path, you'd be living free from persecution, with focus on worldly possessions rather than focus on salvation. As we all know, our time here is nothing more than a vapor, so I leave you with this sentiment. The persecution can seem overwhelming at times, but do know that as with all things...this too shall pass.
God bless you,
Sister Shannon
