On March 2, 2004, we ,at JW Fair, will be celebrating NEA's Read Across America and would be honored to have you be one of our guest "readers". To up-date you on our school, 1/3 of our students are English Language Learners and 40% of our students are considered "at risk" as a result of our state tests. We have stared a reading program that targets student growth in literacy and would like to have mentors, such as yourselves, share a book in a small group situation as a demonstration of the importance of literacy. More importantly, we want to have our students meet people, such as yourselves, who have faced challenges in their lives and who have overcome them to gain successes with the help of education and self-determination.
Please let us know ifyou can participate on March 2, 2004. I know thatit willb e a very rewarding and exciting experience for all. Thanks! P.S. There may be some of your old teachers still here!
