2001 Professional Championships

I have just watched a video of the 2001 Professional Championship (now called Hallmark Skaters' Championship), and when I didn't see Rudy Galindo, I got concerned about how well he was doing physically, so I looked up the website, and find that he was scheduled for the Pro Championships. What happened? He's not sick, is he? I love his skating, and would be very saddened if he wasn't able to continue to skate.
