I wrote the following to WE tv, perhaps Rudy and Miss Gritschuk will get the message.
Dear WE TV.. As a fan of figure skating, I was interested in the maiden effort of "Skating's Next Star." I won't be watching the series. Here's why. The lack of professionalism on the part of Rudy Galindo and Okasan Gritschuk (is she not still "Pasha"?) was disgusting. After a young man named "Chris" skated a poor performance, these two giggled, snorted, and put their heads together and whispered all while this skater awaited their comments. The hurt and bewildered expression on his face broke my heart. So it wasn't his best effort. He deserved more courtesy than these two exhibited. One would think Rudy would be especially aware of how the insensitivity and unkindness of others can hurt. He is no John Nicks, and Miss Gritschuk is fortunate to be in the public eye at all. This is not "American Idol" where delusional young people try out on impulse. This young skater had obviously worked for years to achieve some level of competence. I'm surprised Kristi Yamaguchi would be associated with such a shoddy endeavor. I turned off the TV and opened a book.
