Posted by Mr Vinly Dear Vinyl Connoisseur, A little history about myself: From 1970 to 1974, I was the buyer for Tower Records, Los Angeles, on the Sunset Strip - at that time, “The World’s Largest Record Store” – and 1 of 3 stores in the Tower chain. During this era, I was fortunate enough to be furnished promo/DJ albums and various retail copies from numerous record label executives. I have included 13 albums in this sale autographed by artists such as David Bowie (2), Joni Mitchell, John Mayall, and Elton John to name a few. My collection totals 1,641 (one thousand six hundred forty one) albums, including thirty 7” EP and 45 RPM, and 707 (seven hundred seven) albums in new, still sealed mint condition. I have an Excel spreadsheet available upon request by sending an email to vinyl_auction@yahoo.com. The spreadsheet is separated into the following categories: Rock and Roll, Male Artists, Female Artists, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Soul and R&B, 7” Collectors (EP’s), Motion Picture Soundtrack, and 45 RPM. The 45’s are free to the buyer of this collection and are in very poor condition. The spreadsheet has full descriptions for each album - name of artist, the recording company, and album number off the spleen, album title, condition, and comments such as factory sealed, promo, 2 record set, etc. These albums have been in record company boxes since 1976 (previously they were on display but never played). In 1987, the boxes were opened, the albums inspected, and the original spreadsheet created. Albums were returned to their respective boxes and the boxes sealed with packing tape. The spreadsheet then was modified in the year 2000 and just recently to correct typos and misspellings, but some format changes could not be modified from the first Excel, version 1987, hence the font unevenness during the sheet view. Here’s another example of what I have. The Jazz collection contains every John Coltrane recording on Impulse, every Miles Davis recording on Columbia Records, and every Bob Dylan recording on Columbia Records. Some of the Dylan collection has a white stereo label (sort of type written) with the stereo album number above the original album number and the words monaural. Except for a couple of Miles Davis all are in NEW, never played condition. My ratings are as follows: N New, factory sealed or as new in mint condition. Never played. Opened albums were played on two turntables, a Micro Seiki DD-40 and a Micro-Seiki DD-1000. The former had adjustable pitch, tone arm height, and tracking while a test album was being played. The latter had the option for three tone arms. I had two, the Micro-Seiki S arm and a Shure SME straight. I used the following cartridges: Sonus Blue, Micro Acoustic 2000 and Denon Moving Coil all state of the art during that era. This collection will be sold as a whole in its entirety- no individual artist or labels. Shipping is your responsibility to arrange and provide, I do not have the means. If you’re seriously interested, contact me and I will provide inspection and sales monie$ exchange details. Thank you for your time and interest and look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,
