Posted by Hion Martell Some bands are just too stupid to realize it’s time to quit. Hion Martell is one of those bands. They are too old to qualify for Idol, and too unhip to make the Eurovision Song Contest. Now the band releases Water, a four track CD with re-recordings of songs from last years web release Music from the Swing Dynasty: IRON MOTEL BY HION MARTELL. HION MARTELL has existed since 1992. The first CD was released the following year. Water is the band’s sixth release. The band has also had tracks on a number of compilation albums. Quite a few people have played in the band over the years. The line up is still pretty vague. A traditional guitar/bass/drum line up is complemented with percussion, harmonica, keyboards and backup vocalists when needed. So, how come the band keeps struggling? NEW CD RELEASE FROM HION MARTELL: WATER
-The tracks on IRON MOTEL are very lo fi. We took the tracks we thought were the strongest and recorded them again. The new versions are heavier and better produced, says guitar player Ulf Hagberg.
- One thing is that we really enjoy playing, says bass player Babbaen. And furthermore we are convinced that there is an audience for our type of uncomplicated, happy rock.
