Like many of us,I think it all started at about 9 or 10 years old being taken to the barber shop and hating every second.I'll never forget one haircut, when the barber was finished, he put shaving cream around the hairline to clean it up with a old fashion straight razor. I went balistic jumped out of the chair ran out the door, with the cape still on, crying like a baby.I have never had a male touch my hair after that.I know men are the best hairdressers by far, think about it, how many top stylists can you think of that are female? I can name many men all my heros.I sometimes wish I was one.Is that wierd that I would like to be someone that I wouldn't let touch my hair? I'm not into men, never have been but I am very much into hair.I have had many different styles over the years,Thank God I was blessed with great hair. Now my hair is past my shoulders three or four inchs and naturaly sandy blonde with an undercut.Over the years perms, color, every cut you could think of even flatops.Clipper cuts also hold a place in my heart, a woman with short clipper cut OMG,the sound and feel of Oster 76's, don't get me started.Anyway this is a story about my first roller set.It wasn't that long ago,I have had many sets on perm rods, always to shy to ask for a roller set, well if you have never had one you don't know what your missing. It is by far the most femme service you can have at the beauty shop.My hairdresser is older and she has a real beauty shop, it even says beauty shop on the window, perfect! She works alone and shop looks 70's style with four I think, Vanity hood dryers, one gets much hotter than all the rest, I ask for that one!
It took about a year and a few sets on perm rods and one perm that didn't take to well before I asked about a rollerset.I asked if she did them, knowing that she did, most of her customers are seniors. She told me she did and would be more than happy to do one for me next time I come in.For weeks I couldn't stop thinking what style I should get.maybe just loose curls or maybe something a little more "fancy".Well I decided on fancy, after some looking online I saw a style thats just... well perfect, the bouffant with manditory flip.I'm shure you all know this style and I'm in love with it.I brought it up the computer and traced over it with a pencil, now I had a hand drawn style to take with me to the beauty shop, just to show that I was serious.Monday morning is her slow day and for this special style the less onlookers the better, besides this was my first time.I wanted to enjoy this to its fullest so I put on some clipon earrings and had my nails done with french tips,I have gone in with earrings before but this was my first time with polish on my nails and I was a little nervous.I'm not a full on CDer or sissy but a few femme items do enhance the whole experience.Anyway I walked in and before I could say anything she asked, "are you here for your rollerset?" Oh yes! I say in slightly femme voice and I brought a picture to show you! I took the photo out of my top pocket and gave it to her.She looked at it for a second and said " we can do that and I think it will cute on you" I was in heaven. She rolled my hair in medium curlers quickly, she was a little suprised when I asked if she would like me to hand her the clips for the rollers as I had done many times with end papers. After the rollup a bit of hair spray then under the dryer. When walking to the dryer I stopped for a moment to see myself in the mirror, seeing curlers in my hair is so"nice".I don't think they use hair nets over the rollers here in the US, too bad.I'm not into dryer time I find it kind of boring but do like to sit with legs crossed and hands on knees or reading a fashion mag. After 40 minutes its time for the fun to begin, back combing, teasing and lots of hair spray .This woman knows how to tease hair, holding with one hand and going to town with teasing comb which isn't a regular comb but has many little teeth of different sizes. The pulling of my hair and seeing what at first looks like a rats nest,it does look like a rats nest,I swear it feels so good. She had me turned away from the mirror most of the time while styling, then spins me around to see my new hairdo... WoW! I have just had my hair done. Not a boring trim, but a style that can only be done by someone with many, many ,years of doing mature ladies hair. This style is over the top and can only be seen as a early 60's super femme style and I love it,teased high smoothed out with a cute flip all around the bottom.I enjoyed every second. My hairdresser asked"how do like your new style?,it looks just like the picture." I said "you did a great job. thank you so much."She told me she would be glad to do my hair in any style I liked.I thanked her, paid ten dollars plus two dollar tip and went directly to the mall to show off my new hairdo and do a little foundation wear shopping. Any of you " girls" into OBG's. Kriss
