But the 909 is a whole different beast; if you want the "hands on, interactive" feeling of working a track, it's the way to go. As for sampling, I never look farther than my SP1200...if I need stereo or longer sample time, I go with my Roland SP808--which I use as my multi-track. Definitely feel you on the corporate music scene...but I've been doing it so long, it's all I know (plus, I've got a mortgage!).

: : yeah i figured it was out of comission, i havent seen the rm1x
: or the rs series being sold for a while... besides...the motif
: es is king as far as im concerned... if i could afford it i
: would pick it up... so the only option is the 909 at this point,
: or second hand rs7000... i've heard some ugly things about the
: rs7000 as far as sound quality goes... considering i am junking
: all my equipment for an all in one solution, im probably going
: to go with the mc909 as the cheap solution... damn i want a
: motif es6 though ... so probably going to go with the 909...
: basically over sound quality, and internal sampler..., im not
: trying to make music professionally... as always it was just to
: get some expression out, do a live pa here and there.. i tried
: to work myself into the scene a while ago, and its too
: dirty..too corporate... i would rather write graffiti on walls,
: or play harmonica on my porch... no money or rules involved.
