Yes. Sysex Is the only way. So, if your midi controller or sequencer doesn´t sent/sopport this messages, say goodbye.
Also not only sections can be trigged by Sysex but also phrases and much more in the RM1x.
Try to check the Peavey pc1600 and Novation Remote SL (this last according its user's guide sopports Sysex too). The explanation it's not so deep in that area. Other one could be maybe the Behringer BCR/BCF 2000. As the novation , i'm not sure about its Sysex capabilties others than Store/Receive configuration data.
I want to get a new midi controller which support Sysex. I own a Behringer UMX61 and other master/module/controller/keyboard.
