In answer to your question about Vista, he didn't hate it as much as some people, but he definitely knew that there were problems that were not working and is glad that there will be something better now. From what he's read/found out, Windows 7 should be noticably better. (let's hope so!)
The computer field really is doing pretty well in terms of job opportunities right now...competitive, but doing ok despite the economy. I'm sorry to hear that your hubby has not had much of a chance to work at his job  I wish you both the best in figuring out what would be the best direction for you in these tough times.
