My first question is this...is everyone comfortable with a $15-$20 range limit on the total of the swap before shipping??? Please let me know how you feel about this as I didn't want to just assume it was ok.
And now...
Please read the following very carefully, and, if you are willing to abide by each "rule" please email me at Mrsbobbin@aol.com, subject line RHK HOLIDAY SWAP if you would like to join.
In your sign-up email, please give me your full name and email address that you would like used for future correspondence regarding the swap.
Starting NOW, I will accept sign-ups until WEDNESDAY, November 11, 2009 at NOON EST. Absolutely no sign-ups will be accepted after this date/time.
I will get assignments, along with a short questionaire out by Thursday morning, Nov. 12. Please fill out the questionaire ASAP and return it to me so that I can send it along anonymously to your swapper. Please remember that the questionaires are only GUIDELINES to help you choose thoughtful gifts to put in your package.
Here's how the assigning will work:
As you email me saying you'd like to join, your name will be put on a list in the order in which I receive your email...the first person will send to the second, who will send to the third...etc, and the last person will send to the first person. I'm joining too, but will randomly put my name in somewhere once everyone has joined. To make it fair, I will pick a name from a hat and then I will put my name on the list after the name of the person I picked...make sense?
RULES:
1. You must be willing to ship overseas so that no one feels left out of the swap. It doesn't really cost all that much more to send overseas and only requires a trip to the post office.
2. Packages MUST be mailed by FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2009 by PRIORITY MAIL. If you are someone who is having to ship overseas, it needn't be sent priority, regular Air Mail is fine, but must be sent by Friday, December 4, 2009. This still gives you almost a month to complete your package and get it mailed out. You are more than welcome to mail out before the deadline of Dec. 11, and it's up to your recipient when they would like to open and share...sometimes it's better to have the sharing staggered...especially since we all have real lives that might get in the way of sharing only on a certain date.
3. While I don't have a problem sending GENTLY "used" items, remember this is not a flea market swap. Please do not send anything that you yourself would not be more than thrilled to receive. This doesn't mean go out and spend a fortune on a gift, but that the thoughtfulness and quality of the gift should be of high priority.
4. We all know that real life can sometimes get in the way of our dolly fun and best intentions. If you will be unable to fulfill your obligation in this swap, please let me know ASAP so that other arrangements can be made. I don't want anyone to join up and then be disappointed.
5. This swap is limited to DOLL-RELATED items only...no food or scented items permitted.
6. Make sure to add a card inside your package so that the recipient know who it's from. Include your email address/posting ID on the card, as that's how many of us recognize each other on the board!
7. If you have ANY questions for the duration of the swap, please don't hesitate to email me, Janice, at MRSBOBBIN@AOL.COM. If you need me to secretly find out something from the person you are sending to...let me know! Let's try to keep it all a secret until the gifts have been received!
8. HAVE FUN!
PS...It might be helpful to print these rules out and keep them handy so that you have my information and the important dates right out in the open. It will also help to print out the email with your swap partner's name, mailing address and answers to the questionaire once you recieve them.
I have been involved in MANY swaps...some have had happy endings and some have been disappointing. While I do want this experience to be a fun one, it can only happen if everyone abides by the rules if they decide to participate. I don't want anything to sound too harsh, but it's not fun being the only one who doesn't receive something in the end and it only puts the whole process in a bad light if people sign up and then can't follow through. So think before you sign up...it can be very fulfilling for everyone!
I don't want to be the "bad guy"...please don't throw tomatoes![]()
