: Nintendoland is definitely one of my
: favorites. There's just so much variety and
: cool how they used so many franchises for
: the games.
I'm not sure if it will end up being a favorite game for me. I don't really have many friends or family who like to play games for some of the multiplayer capabilities. To me, it seems like, yes, you can play something like "Pikmin Adventure" in single player mode, but the AI just slows me down or acts too passive. I can only imagine having a second human player who understands the strategy and working cooperatively. Without that, it's hard to see cutting some of my completion times in half to get a "master" rank. I rarely take a hit, so it's coming down to the timer.
In the team games, I'm just controlling both people to win all the stamps (not very fun!). There's one stamp in "Animal Crossing: Sweet Day," where I think I'll need to sync TWO Wii Remotes to cheaply complete it.
: You said you're not big on the
: Donkey Kong obstacle courses but I remember
: when a friend and I were ADDICTED to it!
: Yeah, it gets tough but it was always fun to
: try and do better. At one point, unless we
: were careless, we could virtually zip right
: through the first course.
I think I like the concept and playing through most of the areas. It's just been feeling like a "Donkey Kong Country" game where you reach the point of playing a level/area five or ten times without seeing much improvement.
: When we had several of us together we'd be
: playing Mario Chase almost constantly with
: some Animal Crossing thrown in. I
: personally LOVED the Attraction Tour
: although most of my friends weren't as into
: it. I just really enjoyed how that mode
: rolled all of the games into one overall
: mode and how if it was a 1-vs-1 game, the
: other players could try to predict the
: winner.
LOL. I'm not even sure what happens on the Attraction Tour!
: Yoshi Cart was another one I had a lot of
: fun with. Just another great use of the
: Gamepad. SO unique to have to match up your
: line on the pad with where things are on the
: TV screen.
:
: Reminiscing on this game just makes me
: wonder why Nintendo couldn't have had the
: Switch but a progression from what the Wii U
: was instead of seemingly moving in reverse?
: :-(
I kind of wish the Switch was different. Probably the weird thing is NO backward compatibility yet? I realize they've ported over a few of the best games from Wii U, and the Joy-cons are sort of the new Wii remotes, but there's a whole library of games you can't play from the last two systems. I haven't heard much about whether they plan to add another Virtual Console at some point. I mean, did it ever take this long for the past two machines to release Virtual Console games? I don't know enough about how you program that emulation to judge whether they've been taking longer than what would be needed to figure out the conversion to Switch's hardware and software. They probably want to "perfect" it, though. Another thought: Maybe they just wanted to release Zelda and Mario right away, look at the sales numbers, and then decide whether to focus on the Virtual Console? They've already sold more in one year than the Wii U did in almost four years?!!
Even so, I feel like I could see myself buying a Switch at some point. It's the only way to play "Arms," right? Of course, I haven't owned a copy of "Arms" yet to know if the replay value is high. Against humans, it's just too cool to watch their attacks coming and see if you can block them in time. I think Capcom is releasing a "Street Fighter" collection, but that's probably not exclusive to Switch. Would you believe I own PS4 GAMES, and I have two DualShock controllers (the batteries could be failing from lack of use?), but I can't figure out when (hopefully IF) I'll own that system?
Thanks, by the way, for the compliments about my crazy gaming posts.
