: Not sure if I missed the deadline yet, but
: here goes:
I generally don't have a set "deadline", really. For XTW I know that TehJew22 and Jason will respond so I just wait until I have theirs before moving on. If I ever get a third or fourth person and they start proving to consistent, I'll try to wait for their responses, too. Kind of like here on XTSB... Jason doesn't seem to care for it but if you prove to respond consistently like TehJew22, I'll generally wait for both of your responses. :-)
: Actually, I'm not quite sure how the rungs
: work. It seems like the winners from a
: lower rung move up. What happens in the
: "unranked" pool?
The premise is generally pretty simple... winners move up, losers move down. You've probably figured out that the Hopefuls Pool is just a way to keep things going so that new faces always have a chance to get in the mix.
What I call the "Title Tiers" (King, Prince, Knight) work more like a pro wrestling concept. In pro wrestling some wrestlers will be given a title run with one of the lesser titles to kind of "groom" them to possibly hold the main title. So starting at the Knight Rung things work a bit differently. If the current Knight champion wins, they don't move up but continue to defend their position. Once they are beaten for that title, THEN they get to move up and challenge for the next higher title. Same thing at the Prince level. At the King level, regardless of if you are the champion or not, losing drops you down to challenging for the Prince title.
So basically, aside from the opening Rankings when I did the big multi-round tournament, someone to become the King will have had to hold the previous two titles to even have a shot at the King.
As far as the Unranked match, it's basically that... unranked. No one moves up or down the Rankings regardless of the result but a win can be scored for the Lucky 7 Series. The concept of the Unranked match is basically from when there are two or more characters on a Rung all alone. When doing the XTW matches I got to thinking, "Well, why not have them face off so perhaps the top champion doesn't just sit idle for show upon show upon show if a challenger doesn't move up."
: Coin battle? (For anything besides a time
: battle, I forget if you also need to specify
: a time limit.), 4 minutes
You're correct... a time limit is chosen for a coin battle. If one is not chosen I kind of figure I'd go with "5" as a default.
: 3 stock battle? (I just wonder how long that
: could take with more than 4 players)
Sometimes I wonder if a 1-vs-1 stock battle seems to take a bit longer than with multiple characters since with more characters there are many more ways for everyone to take damage. Of course what stage they are fighting on can also be a significant factor in some cases. Just do like TehJew22 and keep participating and checking out the matches and you'll start to get a feel for settings you like. :-)
: (Does the "launch rate" apply to
: every kind of battle? I just wondered when
: to possibly include that.)
I know the launch rate applies in time and stock and I'm sure it can be set in coin, too. I just default to "1" (standard) but if you ever want to submit higher or lower, feel free. A higher rate would likely mean faster KOs and a lower rate would likely mean slower KOs.
You'll also notice over time that with at least two of you submitting votes there are times there can be hybrid matches as occured last time where there may have been a stock battle but there was also a time limit on the match. Or if there was ever one where you both submit for a time battle and one said 4 minutes and the other said 6 minutes they'd be averaged out to 5. So in some cases certain aspects may not be exactly what anyone said but the settings do take the votes into account. And the only time I ever cast a vote is if there's some situation where a decision needs to be made. This happens more often in XTW because sometimes the "hybrid" scenario doesn't blend together very well.
