Which of these don't they have in England?
July 4th, Food
Dentist, President
(The idea is probably that you read from right to left and top to bottom. That made me guess wrong when I saw the northwest answer.)
Touch the right clock:
12:00 1:15 9:05
(You have to read the clue in a literal way.)
How many outs are there in the 7th inning of a baseball game?
3 4 5 6
(My wrong answer would've ended the game after the top of the inning.)
Tricky, right?
This is my variation on another type of clue they like to use:
How many marital arts are in the list below?
judo
karate
wedding photography
sumo wrestling
Based on reading the Wikipedia entry about sumo, I'm not sure if it's a true martial art. That's irrelevant, though, because only one marital art appears in that list.
On the actual episode, I remember it where you could only touch one item.
Each round has a certain time limit, and you lose dollars as seconds tick away.
One of the higher value puzzles might look like this:
Which of these files is not in order?
(from top to bottom)
right tab, letter R
left tab, letter E
right tab, letter B
left tab, letter D
right tab, letter R
left tab, letter O
You could imagine D not coming after O and R in the alphabet, but have you ever spelled the word order using a B?
There were other puzzles tonight I would've gotten wrong. One was about touching the capital of Kentucky. The picture had a map, but none of the cities was Lexington. It turned out where you had to touch the "K" in the word Kentucky.
Do you remember standardized tests in school? There were letters A, B, C, D, E (...) with little bubbles underneath. I read the clue, and it said to touch the D below. I'm pretty sure I would've touched the CIRCLE that indicates you want to give the "D" answer, but you had to touch the actual D.
One $2,500 puzzle was more complex than I could figure out in the time limit. The question was about Diana's home state. There were other people and names like "Ming from WY," and "Reg from OR." Diana turned out to be from Indiana (since Ming is part of the word Wyoming, Reg appears in Oregon ...).
How about this $10,000 puzzle? Logically, pick a letter for the green crayon. The picture was like this text description:
First color of the rainbow, letter D
Second color, letter E
Third color, letter W
Green crayon, blank
Fifth color, letter E
Sixth color, letter E (actually the 7th color when you memorize the rainbow)
They make it pretty hard to win the $10,000, since both players on a team have to touch the same spot, and their combined time can't exceed 30 seconds (the second person is offstage and their timer is whatever number of seconds the first player didn't use [clock starts at 30]).
It wasn't on the show, but my mom asked me this question earlier:
What is the oven on?
Who talks that way? After a few seconds, I think I gave a correct response of "350." I know that tone and pace and all those other cues are missing when I type it out. It wasn't like, "WHAT?!! Is the oven on?" The what definitely sounded like part of the other words (or you could possibly answer yes/no). I hadn't been using the broiler or the self-clean cycle. She didn't make any reference to a temperature setting, which made it a brain puzzle.
So, yeah. Just wanted to share about that fun game show.
