I'm still trying to process all that happened. The Seahawks do have the concept of "the 12th man." Yet, I'm not sure how you could script a game to where their team scored exactly 12 seconds into the first and third quarters. Most of the game looked scripted to me, although that wouldn't make sense.
Seattle likes to say that their team takes a "kinder, gentler" approach to the game. You're not allowed to curse. They play non-offensive music. They keep checking everyone's mental health. They make sure you eat what they want you to eat. How do you combine those ideas with what looked like a game where they knew what play would be called before the Broncos snapped the ball and were hitting them like it was a UFC fight?
I haven't watched all of Peyton Manning's games, but he almost looked SCARED in his body language. By the time he was releasing a few balls, the lineman was shoved into his face.
Fox didn't seem to interview Richard Sherman. I saw him talking to ESPN's Ed Werder, and it was like he's bipolar or something. The first words were about his team and talking up the plays other guys made. It only turned personal when Ed tried to tell him "You're the best corner in the game," or something like that.
OK. Then, how do you explain this interview?
From the start, Stephen A. Smith sounds ridiculous. "How good do you really believe you are?" Was that even a question? He kind of answered it already and was giving the player a chance to brag. Then Sherman acts like an idiot by saying he's a better person than Skip. In the comments section, people use the corny excuses of, "Oh, you're upset to see a Black man showing confidence." No. A person's color doesn't matter. You're in a team sport, which could survive without you, getting paid ridiculous amounts of money, because some people think it's worth hundreds of dollars to attend an NFL game or buy merchandise, or play fantasy football, and so on. I wouldn't like that attitude from a Latino, Asian or White player, either.
I'm almost becoming a "Rick" in terms of thinking the NFL has passed me by. I kind of see it where the Richard Sherman attitude is the new "normal" of pro sports. Never mind how Russell Wilson seems like a decent guy, and gave more credit to God than to his own arm and legs. I can't really say the Seahawks were TRYING to run up the score, but why did they pass the ball AT ALL in the second half? The stats show they had a good running game, mainly because of the plays by Harvin and Wilson. Marshawn Lynch was pretty well contained on almost every play that went towards the offensive line.
The other weird thing is, if Seattle played the way they did this year because nearly every player has "a chip on day shoulder" (as they say in ebonics), or they weren't "respected," then how do you continue that for the next few years? Now there isn't anything to "prove," if you already know you can beat a team like the Broncos in a Super Bowl. Does that make sense?
