The story has been in development for a very long time, but the actual writing didn't take too long. It was taken directly from the written backstory I maintain for my most important characters. Actually, it was taken from my memory of this backstory; when I went to edit it for posting, I couldn't find it! So I totally re-wrote the episode, and am satisfied that I remembered the original details fairly well.
