West River release Sept 22, 2007

Now that we have graduated a class of new whitewater paddlers I'd like to remind everybody that the West River (Jamaica, VT) fall release is Sept. 22. The fall release is now a one-day affair. The drive is 3 hours, just like the Deerfield.
There will be a shuttle to the Ball Mountain put in for Class III paddlers, and the Salmon Hole put in for Class II paddlers is right in Jamaica State Park.

Did two runs on the lower section from Salmon Hole to Rt. 100. In spite of confusion regarding the amount and duration of the release, it was a great day. Pictures are here:

Looks like we will be getting a RICKA group together to do the class II section, and I know other RICKA members will be paddling the upper section. Should be a fun. Post here if you are interested, or send me an email.

I've booked a site at Winhall Brook in Vt. adjacent to the West river.Erik and I will probably share the site.The site number is S33-there should be additional sites available.You can book through RECREATION.GOV. What time Friday are you planning to leave? JAY
