Contoocook River, NH - Super fun day trip
Winnipesakee River, NH - Runs often
Deerfield River, MA - Dam release = reliable

I'm not sure what you are looking for or where you have been. The one local playspot which is usually flowing thru Summer is the Tarriville Gorge section of the Farmington.
The few rivers which run by release are Dead and Kennebec in Maine and Deerfield in the Berkshires. They are class 3-4 runs and have regular schedules. Bill - Re: best rivers in 300 mile radius

12.46.106.11You will probably want to check one of the guide books (Gablers) which describes most of the major WW runs in NE. After Satan's Kingdom There is some whitewater, a few dams and a lot of flatwater. Tarriville should be near RT 189. It is park n play, a short run but has one dependable play wave/spin hole.
