Beginners Paddle Sat 4/1/06

This is just a heads up for tonight's message! If you want to paddle tomorrow.

We're planning on a class I/II paddle Sat. 4/1/06.
We'll have a final message sent out again tonight, once the Dam release schedule is posted this evening.
(Plan A.) Lower Deerfield
Put-in time?? TBA.
If no release there....
(Plan B.) T-ville in CT. Class II. The water is low at 1.6
Est. put-in time 11am?
By request from the pool/rolling time participants;
The trip will be based on very basic paddle skills/ shaking off the cob-webs and rust:
- Catching Eddy's (or attemping to)
- Peel-outs (shake-off that wobble effect)
- Surfing some waves
- no instruction, just play time.
This trip is posted for those that have the proper whitewater equipment needed. The water is still cold, and the air temp will be in the high 50's only, on Sat.

Fife Brook Beginners Paddle Sat 4/1/06

The trip for April 1st,is Deerfield, Fife Brook section.
Put-in time 9am sharp. The usual put-in just below the dam. Class II.
The release is just 750 cfs, 9am to 12noon.
We are not doing the lower Deerfield as stated previously.

Thanks Jim for organizing this trip. It was a good day for an early season paddle. Water levels were good. Wow, you were right about shaking off the wobbly feeling - started out shaky and became much smoother as the day went on. All in all, a decent run.

Thanks for setting that up Jim. It was very interesting paddling so early in the season. The weather was perfect for the majority of the trip and the quick storm really made it quite exciting. Let's do it again sometime soon okay?

but I made plans for today. Was planning to do a trip up north tomorrow, but it doesn't seen like that is going to happen either. Boy do we need rain. Have fun and surf a wave for me.
