Isn’t this weather great!
OK - maybe not so great - but who would have thought we’d be running the Branch River in July. Forestdale gauge was 4.5 ft, 600 cfs – plenty of water. In fact, some of the rocky sections were a little washed out. Whipple Drop, Glendale and Atlas Pallet were all fun.
Paul also showed us a new put-in further up on the Clear River – a narrow little creek with a couple of fun drops along Rt. 107 (I think). Paul calls it the “Clear River Canyon” – and that’s a good name for it. He says you need 4.5 to 5 on the Nipmuc gauge to run it. Lot of fun - wish we got some pictures.
Heard a couple of thunder boomers off to the south, but fortunately they stayed south and moved off quickly. Great day. Some pictures and video here:
