Dead river trip, weekend of July 7-8-9. One of 'thee' best wilderness, WW runs, on the east coast. 16 miles of warm, crystal clear, water with a steady mix of quickwater, CL-I-II-(III) rapids the entire way. 1 hour dirt road shuttle on classic Maine logging roads.
Spencer rip's, Elephant rock, Mile long rapid, (a wild ride!) the Minefield, Hayden's landing, Spruce ledges, and finally, Upper Poplar, and Lower Poplar Hill falls.
This is not a trip for beginners with no WW experience or a inability to navigate looooong rapid's with rocky, boulder filled rapids. WW kayak's/canoe's are a must, touring kayaks are not suitable for this extensive amount of rapids. Good self rescue skills are a must.
Contact me if you are interested. One of my favorite runs, good Karma on that river.
Mike B.
