Does anyone know when the official fixture list will be out? Also, I heard that the early season fixtures have already been published - is this correct? Finally, is the Godstone Fram with the e-coli outbreak anywhere near the PtP course and could this affect racing there? Thanks James

The first 7 fixtures for the comming season are now available on the home page of Weatherbys web site The first meeting takes place on Sunday 29th Nov 2009 at Black Forrest Lodge 3 Meetings have also been arranged on Monday 28th December 2009 ??? The fixtures for the remainder of the season should be published within the next 10 days

All the fixtures are now on Weatherbys. Tweseldown clashing with Godstone twice I am told. Very sensible. Not.

If that`s the case,not a brilliant piece of planning as tweseldown is now part of the SE Area. NOT as if our area can accommodate two meetings per weekend let alone on one day like the huge devon cornwall area can. Ihave two requetsts for the coming season, FIRSTLY CAN WE HAVE REALISTIC CAR PARKING PRICES ALTERNATIVES TO £25 and £35 must be available. Yes Iknow a meeting can cost in excess of £20k to put on but it is stil alot of money to park in a possibly muddy field. otherwise I may have to fork out for a medical and a jockeys license again which is going to be lot more difficult than you may think to gain entry to all the meetings. Secondly, Our local horse stars such as Bee and Bee, cape stormer and Carry on harry are a pleasure to watch they rarely contribute to competitive racing as most horses are moderate and/or past their best,Believe ME I Know about moderate horses I have owned them. Could secretaries be more inventive and adventurous regarding framing the conditions of races, for instance Kingston blount have a racethat the horse and jockey must have combined age of 50 I realise of course that david robinson could ride a tube of frozen stallion sperm and still be elligible.races for moderate horse who have not won for a number of yearsbut are not good enough for open racesface a cul de sac for their ownerswho enjoy running them even thoughthere is no realistic opportunity of their horse winning again. moderate horses does not necessarily mean moderate racing. has anyone else has ideas for an interesting framing of a race, or even a series of races. As my very old history teacher used to say, Discuss.

To be fair Dave because of the shortage of horses in The South East i can only assume that the organisers have desperately tried to avoid clashing their fixtures with East Anglia as was so often the case in the past Having said this i have to agree with you that Sunday 7th March is difficult to understand Ampton,Godstone and Tweseldown all on the one day [nearest of the 3 meetings scheduled for Saturday 6th beeing Didmarton] However on a more posative note The Cowdray appear to have got it right for their much talked about meeting at Twesledown on Saturday 20th February the nearest scheduled meeting on that day is The Brocklesby best part of 200 miles away In conclusion i guess that it is difficult to please all of the people all of the time

Entirely agree with you on the car parking issue Rosie and please lets have them advertised in advance as is the case in all other areas In my opinion the fairest solution is still the £5-00 car park plus £5-00 per head On the other issue you have to appreciate that both The Twesledown Club and The Thames Valley Club are part of the Sandhurst Area and frustrating as it may seem the arranging of fixtures is not allways as strait forward as it may seem

There is a discussion on the jumpingforfun website regarding Open races in Ireland, there experimenting with a few 2m 4 open races, i think there a great idea. Every area tends to have the odd 4 mile or 3m 4 race so why not put in one 2m 4 race throughout the season. A maiden and Restricted race at every meeting ( which i think is the case now). We have two intermediates during the season and there both at the end of the season why not have a few more and have a couple of early one's and one late. SE club races are well supported by us in the area and people out of the area so there a great idea. I do hope that our area will open up all maidens to 4 year olds as the new rule says any maiden can be open to 4yr olds other than 8 yr old and over maidens. Mixed opens at both Easter meetings.

Please no, not mixed opens at BOTH easter meetings - they aren't 'mixed' opens, they are just mens opens!! Ladies horses are generally ladies horses for a reason and 12st plus penalties is too much for most of them. Of the mixed open's run in the area last season I don't think there were any Ladies runners? I think it would be a great idea to have some other variations on the distances though. How about having some other ladies and mens club races like at Detling? The intermediates definately need to be spaced out a bit during the season rather than the only 2 in the area being on consecutive weeks at the end.

Re EASTER MEETINGS.....Why not have a Ladies Open at the Saturday Charing fixture and a Mens Open at Aldington on Monday...the following year they can swap...Mens at Charing and Ladies at Aldington? It means finding an extra race to fill the void at each meeting but I'm sure Dijon would love to see an Intermediate at one or the other....and we could then have Rosey's 50year olds plus race at the other meet. Again, the Intermediate and 50yrs plus race could swap with their opposite meeting the following year? Come on you organisers and race planners...start thinking outside the box!! If the rest of us have vision, why do you keep wearing the bi-focals?!

From 2003 up to 2008 we had nine Confined Races in the South East and most had good entries and runners so I am interested to know why we only had three last season.

This is an easy question to answer. A major goal of the raceplanners is to attract as many runners as possible - 'confined' races stop some runners from out of the area participating as they qualify with the 'wrong' hunt. We as an area depend on out-of-area horses to make up the numbers. So, all the confined races got replaced with club races in the SE, so that we could get bigger fields.

Just recieved my Race Planner, have Penshurst got a problem with Restricted races they have not got any now. They had one at the first meeting this season. Looks like its been replaced by another bloody novice riders race...........
