What happened to the public access points at Detling today? Despite having a history of difficult access, no work seemed to have been done, particularly following such rainfall, and there was only one tractor to rescue vehicles. I waited over an hour watching the horseboxes dragged out first. If we are serious about attracting newcomers to our sport should we really confine it to only those with 4X4's?

I managed to drive my two-wheeled drive Skoda out of the horseboxes exit with no problems even after several horseboxes had already been towed through. Of course some people know how to drive in mud and some dont.

Pete ~ were you really saying because you got out there wasn't a problem? Crikey! Perhaps next time you drive past the stricken vehicles you could make rude hand gestures to them ~ that'll encourage them to come back! I got stuck bcause some numpty in a Range Rover stopped dead in front of me because there was a piece of mud on the windscreen. At the second meeting at Godstone last year they made a great effort

I arrived at the course yesterday only to get stuck getting into the lorry park, After noticing there was a great big tractor there but with no driver i sat it out for another ten minutes waiting to be towed in. Two other people at this point had got stuck so the other driver went to the officals only to be told tow yourselfs in. Luckly enough Warren Marshall arrived in his Car. Then towed myself and quite a few more people in too. I no we should be helping to encourage newcomers but lets not forget the people already involved. On a brighter side great days racing with some serious horses on show. Roll on Charing.........

OK - I'll come clean - once I'm going then I'm going - steady and slowly. The only time I've had to be towed out was whwn sone numpty in a BMW (expensive one of course) skewed across the mud and stopped me in my tracks. Is it me or are peoples driving abilities in direct reverse order of the amount they spend on their cars?

A horsebox park is for horseboxes....it's obviously an area where horses are going to be present, walking round, being cooled off etc etc.....don't know what the heck cars are allowed into a horsebox park for in the first place! Maybe people just can't read the signs?Given the amount of grass in the public car park at the top of the track, if I go to Detling in muddy weather again, I'm parking my lorry in the blooming public car park and walking my horses round there too, as there obviously wasn't anybody parked there!

Did Pete step out of his new Skoda into someone's vegetable patch at Detling? His new wellies show definite traces of tomato and broccoli. Nice to see the prize money being spent on something so tasteful...
