If you want an idea of how much the field programs are, you can look at the SAS website under any of the upcoming voyages and they have field programs listed and the approximate cost. Emily, I copied and pasted this from a response Pete gave to someone else.
You can spend as much or as little as you want on trips. I brought $2K in cash with me.. I used it for most of my on ship expenses, ports (~$100 spending per), and several trips. The rest of my trips totalled around $1500 I think."
