I have given my dogs raw chicken wings and legs a couple of times a week for years. NEVER had a problem until yesterday. I always put the dogs in their crates when giving them bones or raw chicken, to keep them from fighting or getting the meat on the carpet. Yesterday, I just happened to be in my sewing room where I keep their crates, dogs were chewing on raw chicken legs, I heard noise coming from that direction like one of them was bouncing around in the crate. Dutch was on her side, thrashing about, I knew immediately she had a piece in her throat. I pulled her out and stuck my fingers down her throat, and could not feel anything, but thank God her gag reflex kicked in and up came a big long chunk of chicken leg. She seemed pretty shaken for a few seconds, after that, she wanted that chicken leg back! It was about that time I noticed blood all over my hand, seems she sunk her teeth into my hand during the retrieval.
Had I not been in the room on my computer at the time, I'm sure I would have lost her. Wow, you just never know.
