Posted by Visitor on July 29, 2005, 8:20 pm I am a new pipesmoker, and have bought a Liverpool pipe and a tin of Dunhill My Mixture 965. Though very strong, with choicest Perique playing on the palate (and giving my Liverpool a very satisfying smell even without the 965), I thoroughly enjoyed what I believe to be a fantastic, assertive smoke. And now they tell us that no more pipe tobacco will be produced. Yes, politically, we smokers may not be the most important concerns on the government's minds, and yes, Dunhill may see their pipe tobacco as an overhead, a cost they can cut out, but my very tobacconist is running out his stock of 965! Please, may somebody recommend me a non-Dunhill alternative to 965, that is strong, slightly aromatic, and that is sold in the UK please? Many producers of fine and exclusive quality goods, whether they be vehicles, country-wares or even plain and good cakes from the local bakery, will go into times of a depression in the market. Each company will face a drop in sales, supplier problems, as is the wont with Dunhill, or even a loss-making situation. But to completely end production and not even start again is pure nonsense. And no, I will not be buying the latest £400 leather travelling case from the London store!
