Jimmy Bowen has long been among my favorites. In the Spring of '57 I was finishing my 9th grade at my high school on Guam. Even though for the most part we had no access to "all hit radio", now and then songs would pop up that were discussed heavily on our school bus ride.
At one point, both Buddy Knox and Jimmy Bowen were in our spotlight with their hits. Buddy had "Party Doll" but with our group the flip of Jimmy's "I'm Sticking With You" was considered his hit side, and that was "Ever Lovin' Fingers"(it did show up on the Billboard 'Hot 100' at #63).
However, his 1960's work with Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra is used to be a trivia highlight when I'm doing one of my talks at the senior living homes. It also helps to mention his work with Garth Brooks to appeal to the C&W fans.
All things considered, Jimmy's lived a very interesting life and contributed a lot to the music we enjoy!
