The thread about the false report of her death is still up. And to my way of thinking, the folks at Google are asleep at the wheel and should be ashamed of themselves.
Meanwhile other websites are picking up the bogus information and also reporting her death as fact even though the source of that information retracted the original article and posted a follow-up stating that the woman they thought was Marcie was an imposter.
I never knew Marcie personally but I did do a phone interview with her while working for Casey Kasem.
I would think that the singer born Marcia Blank might be aware of what is going on. But even if that's so, I imagine there's a chance that she may not even care what people think. She has purposely been "off the radar screen" for years. I am fully aware of her bitterness toward the record business (she confessed that during our interview which, sadly, I cannot find a copy of) and it is possible that she, Marcia Blank, herself wants to "bury" Marcie Blane for good. This is, of course, pure speculation on my part.
I personally do not wish to be "involved" in this story any more than I already have been (thanks to the Santa Monica Observer including my email message in their follow-up article, which is something that I did not expect them to do (though I did not object to them having done so).
But I think it would be nice if somehow the false information -- which is spreading -- could get corrected. Possibly Marcia -- if she is interested -- could get a family member or a friend to publicly post a message somewhere (there's plenty of social media possibilities) and clearly set the record straight.
